Trauma Resolution

Trauma Resolution
Life can hit hard—maybe you’ve faced a tragic loss, a traumatic birth, or a painful betrayal. It was too much, too fast, and you never got the chance to fully process it. Trauma therapy can help you heal in ways that feel deep, meaningful, and freeing.
The first step is recognizing that what you’ve been through is too big to handle alone. You deserve the time and care it takes to heal. When you’re ready, overcoming these experiences in a way that feels complete and embodied is possible. I’ve seen this happen many times, and it’s always a privilege to witness.
One of the approaches I use most is called Brainspotting. It evolved from therapies like EMDR, somatic experiencing, and psychodynamic therapy. Here’s how it works: during a telehealth session, you’ll listen to bilateral music over headphones. As you talk about what you’d like to resolve, I’ll guide your eye movements to different spots in the room. These “brain spots” can connect to past experiences, body sensations, or even intrusive thoughts. This process helps access the deeper, non-rational part of your brain where trauma gets stuck.
The Ice Skating Story
David Grand, the creator of Brainspotting, discovered this approach while working with a 13-year-old ice skater. She wanted to land her triple axel jump but was stuck. Together, they found that resolving her traumatic relationship with her abusive mother unlocked her ability to perform. She went on to land the triple axel at a major competition. This story shows how healing trauma can also help you reach your fullest potential—whether you’re an athlete, artist, or simply someone with big dreams.
Beyond Trauma: Expansion
The same parts of your brain that hold fear and pain also hold your capacity for creativity and freedom. Using Brainspotting, we can focus on nurturing your gifts and uncovering the resources you already have. This isn’t just about healing—it’s about expanding into your most authentic, expressive self.
Healing trauma isn’t just about relief—it’s about transformation. As Carl Jung said, “the gift is in the wound.” Together, we can help you move through the pain and into a life of possibility.
You might feel emotions, body sensations, or even notice smells tied to the experience. It can be intense, but we can always slow things down and focus on the strength and resilience that’s already within you. The process is challenging but also deeply relieving and empowering. Your body and brain know how to heal—we’re just tapping into that potential.
